Cushman & Wakefield announced today that brokerage professionals Alisa Amsterdam and Kelli Mekles were elected as 2013 Governors of the Young Men's/Women's Real Estate Association (YM/WREA).
Alisa Amsterdam is an associate director specializing in retail brokerage on behalf of tenants and landlords in Manhattan. She represents many of Manhattan's most prominent property owners, and has been instrumental in arranging transactions involving some of the city's most recognizable retailers. She joined Cushman & Wakefield in 2003 as a market research associate and has served as a brokerage professional since 2006.
In her role on the 2013 Board of Governors, Ms. Amsterdam will serve as public relations liaison, working to promote the YM/WREA's social and philanthropic activities that occur throughout the year. In 2012 she served on the YM/WREA board as secretary.
Ms. Amsterdam holds a B.S. from the University of Maryland, College Park. In addition to her YM/WREA role, she is an active member of the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), and the UJA Federation of New York.
Kelli Mekles is a senior associate at Cushman & Wakefield specializing in office brokerage. She is a part of the firm's Strategic Agency Services, which specializes in landlord representation. Her current responsibilities include serving as leasing director for three office properties owned by WH Properties.
Ms. Mekles joined Cushman & Wakefield in 2011 and began her real estate career in 2004. She received her B.S. from Syracuse University and a M.S. from NYU.
"Both Alisa and Kelli have been committed to serving the YM/WREA, which is highly regarded within the industry," said Suzy Reingold, executive managing director of Cushman & Wakefield's New York City offices. "We are proud to have two Cushman & Wakefield women inducted into such important roles within this prestigious organization."
The appointments of Ms. Amsterdam and Ms. Mekles to the 2013 Board of Governors follows a year in which Cushman & Wakefield's David Berke, an Associate Director, served as Chair of the organization.
The YM/WREA, which was established in 1948, is committed to having a positive influence over policies affecting the New York real estate industry and supporting the community. The members of the organization serve these ideals by mentoring those interested in the real estate profession, participating in community improvement activities and donating time and money to various endeavors. Among the organizations and events that the YM/WREA assists with includes the City Harvest's Canned Food Drive, New York Cares' Coat Drive and the River Fund of NY and iEatGreen, LLC's annual "Feed-the-Less-Fortunate" campaign.
