C&W’s Alan Schmerzler and Christopher Schwart rep tenant in 2,640-square-foot transaction at 212 Eighth Avenue; Peter Braus and JP Sutro of Lee & Associates rep ownership
Cushman & Wakefield announced today that Project Pie, a fast casual, custom pizza restaurant, signed a long-term lease at 212 Eighth Avenue, located between 20th and 21st Streets, for the franchise’s first New York City location.
Project Pie will occupy a total of 2,640 square feet on the ground and basement in the building, the former location of Rawhide, the iconic New York City bar. The franchise also has locations in Las Vegas, Nev. and San Diego, Calif.
Cushman & Wakefield’s Alan Schmerzler, Executive Director and Christopher Schwart, Senior Associate, represented Project Pie in the transaction. Peter Braus, Managing Principal, and JP Sutro, Associate, of Lee & Associates represented the landlord.
Project Pie intends to open within six months. The space will undergo major renovation.
“Project Pie wants to make a splash in the Manhattan marketplace and we all feel this is a perfect location for its first NYC outpost,” said Christopher Schwart. “It will be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.”
The owner, James Markham, originally from the East Coast, has been in the pizza industry since 2008, when he opened his first pizzeria in San Diego. He was looking for the right location back East for a long time and finally found it on Eighth Avenue. “It’s a very prominent corner in the middle of Chelsea that is ideal for a new concept pizza restaurant such as Project Pie,” said Peter Braus.
