Cushman & Wakefield announced today that it represented The Movement, a new fitness studio concept, in a long-term lease at 32 West 18th Street, located between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. The grand opening is expected this winter.
The Movement, a high-end boutique fitness studio, will occupy approximately 3,200 square feet on the ground floor in the 12-story building. With a slogan, “Give Back, Move Forward,” The Movement, which will feature group-exercise classes and a juice bar, will donate $1 per person per class to brain cancer research.
“My mother passed away from Brain Cancer when I was 18 and I know almost everyone knows someone affected by Cancer. I wanted to be a part of something big. This is a true movement to not only change yourself physically and mentally but to help change the world,” said Jordan Canino, CEO of The Movement.
Cushman & Wakefield retail broker, Greg Tannor, Director, represented The Movement in the transaction. Tess Jacoby of RKF represented the landlord.
“The Movement is an exciting new concept for the Flatiron District, which has been experiencing tremendous growth within the fitness sector. With Soul Cycle, Barry’s Boot Camp, Flywheel and the Fhitting Room, the Movement is a perfect addition to this bustling neighborhood,” said Tannor.
Located in the Flatiron District and in Manhattan’s Midtown South submarket, 32 West 18th Street is a vibrant area of the City where tenants want to live, work and play. The submarket has seen an increase in total housing units, population growth and number of high-quality schools and restaurants.
