Cushman & Wakefield announced today that law firm Haynes and Boone, LLP signed a 22,466-square-foot lease at Plaza Tower. Cushman & Wakefield’s Rick Kaplan, Robert Lambert and Matt Moore represented Plaza Tower in the transaction.
Haynes and Boone is relocating from Irvine Towers to Plaza Tower at 600 Anton Blvd. Located adjacent to South Coast Plaza and the Segerstrom Center for the Arts - Plaza Tower, Center Tower and Park Tower collectively house 10 out of 19 Orange County AM 100 law firms, making these South Coast Plaza office buildings the preeminent location for law firm tenants.
“In the recovering economy the legal sector has a renewed focus on retention and recruiting. Therefore, given the amenities and iconic stature of Plaza Tower, Center Tower and Park Tower, the migration of top tier firms to these South Coast Plaza office buildings is a trend that is expected to continue,” said Robert Lambert, Director with Cushman & Wakefield.
Many Orange County law firms are focusing on upgrading office space for recruiting and retention purposes, which parallels a national trend recently highlighted in Cushman & Wakefield’s Legal Sector Benchmark Survey Results. Of the 286 responding law firms, 68.3% named recruitment as the number one issue facing the firm.
“Leasing activity in Plaza Tower, Center Tower and Park Tower has greatly increased. We are in active discussions with several prominent law firms and corporate occupiers looking to locate here,” added Rick Kaplan, Vice Chairman with Cushman & Wakefield.
Haynes and Boone plan to occupy the space by September 2014. They will join an extensive tenant roster of prestigious law firms at Plaza Tower including Dorsey and Whitney, Bingham McCutchen, Baker & Hostetler and Snell & Wilmer.
Plaza Tower is a 21-story, Class A office building designed by renowned architect Cesar Pelli. The 470,000-square-foot building is located next to the 405 freeway in Costa Mesa.
