Sanyo Energy to Build New Headquarter Office Building at Austin Ranch In The Colony

Sanyo Energy (U.S.A.) Corporation, a rechargeable battery manufacturer and supplier based in Frisco, Texas, will expand and relocate its headquarter offices to a new 30,000-square foot build-to-suit at the Austin Ranch development in The Colony. Dean Collins and Mark Collins of Cushman & Wakefield of Texas, Inc. represented Sanyo Energy in the market search and transaction negotiations for the new location. Marijke Lantz represented the property owner, Billingsley Company.

“We look forward to becoming the newest corporate citizen of The Colony and appreciate the efforts of everyone involved in completing this process, including the city council and the EDC,” said Andy Sirjord, Vice President of Sanyo Energy U.S.A. Corporation.

Construction on the new office structure, located off Plano Parkway between Highway 121 and Windhaven Road, will begin immediately with completion expected by July 2015. Sanyo Energy will move its existing headquarters and employees from its current location at 2600 Network Blvd. in Frisco, where they occupy 29,842 square feet, to the Austin Ranch location.

“This project did not follow typical protocols. Given our current market conditions, which have experienced significant increases to rental rates due to higher
demand, Sanyo Energy embraced a laser focused approach, allowing us to better control the outcome and deliver the best possible results in a rising market,” said Dean Collins. “Tenants have a unique opportunity to consider build-to-suits because interest rates are currently low and pricing is very competitive versus existing product.”

“With the excitement of Grandscape and Nebraska Furniture Mart next door, there has been a burst of activity at the Offices of Austin Ranch. We are seeing a large increase in build to suit activity from companies looking to relocate or increase the visibility of their brand,” said Lucy Billingsley, Partner, Billingsley Company. “We have loved the scenic view from this site for years and can’t wait to share it with Sanyo.”
