Jim Flink



A 30-year industry veteran of the Raleigh-Durham market, Jim joined Cushman & Wakefield in 2014. He is considered one of the foremost experts on the Raleigh-Durham apartment market, having brokered the sale or land for more than 25 apartment communities. His knowledge of the multifamily industry has informed his extensive work for local, regional and national apartment developers. Jim has assisted in site selection, due diligence, site planning and entitlement procurement for a wide range of clients including Woodfield Investments, Hanover, Fairfield, and Trammel Crow.

Jim’s investment sales career has focused primarily on the acquisition of land, multi-family communities, and income-producing properties. In addition, he has brokered numerous shopping center and mixed-use sites. He was part of the team that assembled the land for The Streets of Southpoint Mall in Durham, which consistently performs as one of the top grossing malls in North Carolina. He has also provided consultation services to numerous grocery-anchored shopping center developers.

Flink co-founded Vanguard Associates in 1987 and, with his partners, grew the firm into a regional commercial brokerage services company before selling to The St. Joe Company. He then became a partner with Dilweg Cos. where he focused on apartment acquisitions. Before joining Cushman & Wakefield, he was Executive Managing Director, Investment Sales, at Synergy Commercial Advisors, which was purchased by Cassidy Turley (now Cushman & Wakefield).
